Juniors

Your Daisy and Brownie years are behind you ... now it's time to let the girls take on a little more responsibility!  They are anxious to have more of a say in what the troop does and to take on more leadership ... and you can use a little break!

  1. Now is a great time to let the girls start planning meetings, while their parent/caregiver helps them this time.  Have them pick a badge or Journey activity that interests them and let them run a meeting (or two).  If they can't finish the badge in one meeting, have them send the Troop some activities to complete at home prior to the meeting.  See below for a handy form to use.

  2. Take camping to a new level by planning a Troop camping trip - have the girls learn how to plan their trip, cook over a campfire, go hiking, learn orienteering and lots of other great activities.  Jockey Hollow is a beautiful camp located 20 minutes from Chatham with gorgeous cabins (and full kitchens!), a pool and low ropes challenge course on-site.  Do skits under the pavilion at night and have Seaton Hackney bring horses in for a trail ride in the morning.  Think camping by a lake is more your Troop's style?  Learn more about Jockey Hollow, Lake Rickabear and Glen Spey.  Go on the Arctic Adventure at Camp Glen Spey in January and add cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and maybe even some ice fishing to your camping activities!

  3. Have them pick an event or cause that interests them and do the Bronze Award as a Troop ... the girls will learn about the importance of planning, organizing, budgeting and meeting deadlines and have a great time doing it!  See what some of our troops did in past years to earn their Bronze Award.
